Roy Palmer

Since 1972, Roy Palmer has been involved trading seafood and other food products and has traveled the world extensively. In 1978, he lived in Hong Kong for one year and was in charge of seafood trading for an organization there. In 1975, Palmer was named the inaugural president of the Victorian Importers Association and became involved with Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service committees and Seafood Services Australia’s Fish Names program. From 1991 to 2003, he was involved in three retail seafood companies. During this period, he was appointed deputy chairman of SeaQual and to the board of Seafood Training Australia. 

Palmer was named director of Seafood Services Australia for two terms and participated in the Victorian government’s Fisheries Co-Management Council for three years. After winning the inaugural Australian Seafood Training Award in 2003, Palmer landed a career in training. Currently, Palmer is head of industry training and education for the Australian Seafood Cooperative Research Centre. He has been involved with Seafood Experience Australia since 2006 and became its CEO in May 2008. Additionally, Palmer contributes to numerous magazines and journals and regularly presents at conferences worldwide.
