The Government of Canada works with the fish and seafood sector to enhance its trade performance in foreign markets. Responsibilities are divided amongst three departments: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada provides support for export market development initiatives; the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade is responsible for the Trade Commissioner Service within Posts internationally, and; the Department of Fisheries and Oceans regulates the industry, sets up fisheries management regimes and deals with international trade policy.
