January 7, 2008 - SFB Staff — Farmed salmon supplier Aquafarms International of Miami last week changed its name to Multiexport Foods to celebrate its 20 years in Chile.

“We are involved in an overall effort to further our growth as producers of animal protein and become a world-class company known for strict compliance with best corporate practices on a global level,” said CEO José Ramón Gutiérrez in a press release.

Multiexport Foods is the sixth largest salmon distributor in the world and in 1991 was the first Chilean salmon producer to sell an assorted line of salmon and trout products in the United States through its subsidiary, Aquafarms International.

Additionally, a division of Multiexport Foods is dedicated to producing, processing and marketing farmed blue mussels, and plans to export several thousand tons in 2010.
