About the Author
SeaFood Business Senior Editor James Wright has more than a decade of experience covering the seafood industry and working within it. A graduate of the University of Maine, his first seafood journalism experience came with Gofish.com in 2000, when he covered the rise of international trade, the growing awareness of omega-3 fatty acids and how the energy crunch impacts the industry.
After several years working in sales and marketing for a respected Portland, Maine, seafood company, he came to SeaFood Business in 2005 to write news and in-depth feature stories that appear in the issue's Top Story slot. His reporting covers a wide range of topics, such as economic fraud, salmon farming, carbon footprints, ocean acidification, consolidation, sustainability, organic seafood, country-of-origin labeling and other topics that impact U.S. seafood buyers and sellers. He also contributes news stories and commentaries to SeafoodSource.com.
Jamie lives in South Portland, Maine, with his wife Meaghan and chocolate Labrador Retriever, named after Nova Scotia’s scallop capitol of Digby.
