New Requirements for U.S. Seafood Importers and Exporters
(recorded February 4, 2010)

Login as a premium member to watch the webinar video slideshow presentation or listen to the webinar audio recording >

Did you know? There are three new requirements for U.S. seafood importers and exporters, all of which have the potential to curb the distribution of seafood if importers and exporters are unable to comply with them. You’ll get the latest update on these new regulations so your business will not be disrupted.

The webinar will address these new requirements:

  • The European Union's Catch-Certificate Rule: As of January 1, 2010, seafood exports to the EU must be accompanied by catch certificates verifying the product was legally harvested. This new rule is aimed at combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
  • The Transportation Safety Administration's Certified Cargo Screening Program: By August 2010, the TSA will screen 100% of cargo on all flights, including flights into the U.S. To ensure the movement of cargo is not impaired, the TSA has developed the Certified Cargo Screening Program, a voluntary program designed to move some of the screening process to shippers, third-party logistics providers, air forwarders, and independent screening services
  • Customs & Border Protection's "10+2" Rule: Last year, the CBP's 10+2 interim final ruling went into effect, requiring importers and ocean carriers to electronically submit additional data to CBP on vessels destined to the United States.

Speakers

  • Susan Kohn Ross, International Trade Counsel, Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP
  • Tim Hansen, Director, Seafood Inspection Program, NOAA Fisheries
  • Gary E. Lupinacci, Assistant Branch Chief, Certified Cargo Screening Program, TSA/TSNM
