Richard S. Brauman, founder and CEO of Little Pearl American Caviar, passed away suddenly on July 6 at the age of 36.

Founded in 2005, the Somerville, Mass.-based company sources fresh, sustainable, preservative-free caviar for upscale retailers (including Whole Foods), restaurateurs, hoteliers and consumers via mail order.

Brauman grew up in Bernardsville, N.J. He graduated from Boston College in 1998 and obtained a master’s degree in aquaculture from Deakin University in Australia and an MBA from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

Brauman leaves his parents, brother and fiancé, whom he was due to marry on 13 August. Services were held at the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home in Brighton, Mass., on 11 July.

“It is with our deepest regrets and a profound sense of loss with which we observe the death of Richard Brauman. As the founder of our company, Rich’s passion, enthusiasm and loyalty positioned the company as a leader in the industry, ensuring our success,” said Dana Bartholomew Jr., his business partner, on Wednesday.

“His spirit touched the lives of all who knew him,” he added. “We will miss him. We extend our love and condolences to his family, fiancé and friends.”
