Aquaculture without Frontiers streamlines international efforts

Aquaculture without Frontiers has formed a new executive group to help ensure the charity’s consistency and cohesiveness in its worldwide operations.

The formation of the Aquaculture without Frontiers (AwF) International Council speaks to the streamlining of efforts among three affiliated AwF organizations around the world – USA (Americas region), Australia (Oceania region) and Latin America (based in Mexico). All offices have agreed to follow a “global campaign strategy, but work independently within their regional/local context and in seeking the necessary financial support from donors, programs and grants to fund their work,” AwF said in a news release.

“We need organizations in different countries to create tax benefits for donors and to be eligible for any local funding. Whilst most countries talk about global engagement, it is very clear that they are only funding and engaging their own registered organizations and people – it is true to say that aid funding is more strategic than it has ever been,” the organization said.

The council includes the AwF global executive director as well as two members from each affiliated organizational board on a rotation basis of three years. As such, the current council is comprised of the following: Albert Tacon, Meryl Williams, Antonio Garza de Yta, Citlali Gomez Lepe, Katherine Hawes, Dave Conley and Roy Palmer.
