Bakkafrost’s salmon reports smaller harvest in last quarter of 2016

Faroese salmon producer Bakkafrost Group harvested 12,900 metric tons (MT) of gutted weight fish in the fourth quarter of 2016, down from 13,675 MT in the corresponding period of 2015, according to its latest trading update.

The contribution to the total from the company’s farming operations in the north of the Faroes amounted to 4,000 MT, while its farms in the west supplied 8,900 MT.

Bakkafrost also sold 25,000 MT of feed in the last quarter.

The company previously forecast a salmon harvest of 47,500 MT (gutted weight) for 2016 as a whole and expects to harvest 56,000 MT this year.
