Former Clear Springs nutritionist hired by U.S. ag firm

American agriculture firm H.J. Baker & Bro., based in Westport, Conn., USA, has hired Scott Snyder as the company’s manager of aquaculture technical services, a new position the company is creating to expand its work in seafood farming.

Snyder, who holds a Ph.D. In philosophy in animal physiology and a diverse industry background, worked for the past two years for Clear Springs Foods as director of the company’s early life stage division and fish nutritionist.

He also worked for three years as an animal nutritionist with Ziegler Bros., where he also received a two-phase grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to develop an aqua feed manufacturing technology. Snyder also worked for six years as a biological science technician for the United States Department of Agriculture ARS Trout Grains Project.

“Dr. Snyder brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to H.J. Baker’s aquaculture business,” said Clark Springfield, animal health and nutrition general manager at H.J. Baker. “He is a widely published thoughtful researcher and analyst who has been published in many aquaculture journals and trade publications and we welcome his expertise.”
