Tasmanian Atlantic salmon producer, Huon Aquaculture, on Thursday unveiled its interactive sustainability dashboard, doing away with annual hard copy reports in favor of online information sharing.
The sustainability dashboard presents current company information on topics from antibiotic use to video of a diver inside a fish pen.
“We want to share information that is of interest to the community about the way we farm, manage the welfare of our fish and our impact on the environment in a relevant, current, accessible and immediate way,” said Frances Bender, Huon co-owner and director.
“It’s not about what we want to share it’s about what people want to know and us providing it to them in a way that’s simple and east to access and understand,” said Bender. “We feel that trawling though page after page of an annual report is yesterday’s technology that presents data that is old before it is ever read.
“In this age of smart phones, tablets and ultra-books we wanted to place the information people want in their hands — wherever they are, whenever they need it.”
