Malay ag ministry to help create aquaculture zone

The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry will assist the Sarawak state government in its endeavor to turn the Bakun Dam area into an aquaculture zone.

Its deputy minister Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the ministry would engage with the state Fisheries Department in the area of training and studies on the water quality at the dam prior to implementing the project.

“I understand that the department has applied through the Economic Planning Unit for an allocation of RM31 million for the purpose and we will support the request,” he said.
