Norway proposes ‘green’ salmon license program

The Government proposes allocation of 45 new green salmon licenses in 2013. Twenty of them will be located in Northern Norway.

I want to encourage the development of technical solutions as a driving force for positive change in the industry. This provides opportunities for growth along the coast, but most in counties Finnmark and Troms, says Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs, Lisbeth Berg-Hansen in a statement.??

The system of green licenses, where 35 of the 45 new green licenses require redemption of a current license. This means that it is allocated two new green concessions on submission of one existing license.??

20 of the 35 will be allocated to farmers in Troms and Finnmark to the price of NOK 10 million per license.
