Tilapia farmers expecting record high harvest this year

Tilapia spawning season has commenced at New Global Energy’s farm in California Valley, and representatives feel that the number of fish in this year’s harvest will break records.

Due to new financing commitments trickling in from outside investors, the coming year could prove to be a game-changer in terms of the number of sustainable fish grown and ultimately sold on the farm, the company hypothesized.

Tilapia fingerlings will be weaned on New Global’s special brand of fish formula, which is free of GMOs, antibiotics and chemicals; the formula blends superfood Moringa, nutrient rich algae and a proprietary blend of other ingredients to nourish farmed fish stocks.

"New Global Energy is at the forefront of developing and implementing the most advanced, sustainable, ecologically sound methods of producing clean, quality seafood. Sustainable features of our farm include the use of solar electricity, nutrient dense fish food, water recirculation through ponds that contain plants that clean the water for re-use, and the nutrient rich fish pond water that is also used to irrigate the Moringa used for the fish feed," said New Global Energy's CEO Perry West in a prepared statement.

Tilapia has become a popular fish consumption-wise in the United States over the years, with the National Fisheries Institute giving it the number four spot in its ‘Top Ten’ rankings of most consumed seafood. Only 10 percent of tilapia consumed in the United States comes from a domestic farm site, noted New Energy. With global demand for farm-raised fish expected to double by 2030, the company finds itself to be ahead of the curve, and progressing in a positive and timely fashion.
