True North Salmon earns four-star BAP certification

True North salmon from Atlantic Canada and Maine has achieved four-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) status. True North salmon is produced by Cooke Aquaculture Inc.

Four-star BAP status denotes a combination of the company's salmon processing plants, farms, feed mills and hatcheries are BAP certified.

Four-star BAP status was achieved when three of Cooke's salmon hatcheries recently earned BAP certification. Cooke is the world's first farmed salmon company to have more than one hatchery BAP certified.

BAP standards are established by the Global Aquaculture Alliance, which re-launched its websites — www.gaalliance.org and bap.gaalliance.org — to better communicate its mission of advocating, educating and demonstrating responsible aquaculture practices to feed and employ future generations.

The new websites feature search and map functionalities for the list of more than 700 Best Aquaculture Practices-certified facilities, a marketing toolkit and a consumer-facing webpage.
