ASMI seeks public input on RFM conformance criteria

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has opened its Alaska Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) Conformance Criteria (Version 1.2 September 2011) for public review and comment. The 60-day online consultation will close on Monday, 3 February 2015.

All comments will be presented to the Alaska RFM Conformance Criteria Committee, which will formally review the standard. ASMI is seeking all stakeholder input with an interest in responsibly managed fisheries.

The public review for the RFM certification program, which major Alaska seafood suppliers turned to in bypassing the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) program, is to ensure continual improvement and consistency with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization’s key reference documents.
