Sri Lankan seafood company Ceylon Fresh Seafood has renewed its certification from Friend of the Sea, pronouncing its swordfish and yellowfin tuna remains sustainable.
The company said its tuna operation had successfully undergone the Friend of the Sea renewal audie, and its swordfish had received Friend of the Sea second certification
Neither stock appears to be overexploited where the Sri Lankan company’s vessels are fishing. Friend of the Sea also noted that the fishing operations are selective and not affecting the seabed.\
“We care about the health of the marine habitat and that is why we rely on Friend of the Sea to prove the sustainable origin of our products,” said Prasad Gunathilaka of Ceylon Fresh Seafood. “Friend of the Sea award is a great confirmation of the validity of our engagement.”
