U.S. seafood processor fined for mislabeling shrimp

The U.S. Justice Department has announced American seafood processor and wholesale distributor Alphin Brothers will be fined USD 100,000 (EUR 90,033) for deliberately mislabeling shrimp.

The company, based in North Carolina, pleaded guilty to falsely labeling about 25,000 pounds of farmed imported shrimp as wild domestic product. The company sold the mislabeled product to customers in Louisiana.
