3 shrimp dishes dominating US ‘Tailgate Takeover’

At the height of American football season, the National Fisheries Institute’s Shrimp Council is partnering with influencers in the blogger-sphere to develop a series of recipes for a “Tailgate Takeover” campaign – a promotion that encourages consumers to prepare meals featuring shrimp and bring them to tailgate parties on game day across the country.

Creators of blogs Damn Delicious, Cooking Classy, and The Little Kitchen have joined the Shrimp Council in developing and disseminating “appetizing, tailgate-friendly recipes that would be a hit with everyone, whether football fans or not,” according to NFI. The bloggers have also incorporated the use of herbs and spices from McCormick in three recipe creations:

“Everyone knows that tailgating would not be the same without great food,” NFI Senior Vice President Judy Dashiell in a news release. “Fans are always looking to bring bite-sized finger foods to their pregame rituals, and shrimp is the perfect choice. We hope this campaign will help consumer think outside the box when it comes to tailgate and party food, and encourage them to reach for nutritious and delicious shrimp when planning their menus.”

Thus far, the Tailgate Takeover online campaign has generated more than 16.6 million impressions, said NFI.
