Fast food burger giant White Castle has introduced a new Seafood Crab Cake Slider to its menu in time for Lenten season, which begins on 1 March.
The slider includes a crab cake topped with creole sauce and is served on White Castle’s signature bun with the restaurant’s new Shrimp Nibblers as a side. The sandwich will be available at most White Castle locations for a limited time, starting on 17 February.
"White Castle has been innovating since 1921, when we started the first fast food chain. Today we are proud to continue leading the industry by being the first to offer a seafood crab cake sandwich at all restaurants. The bold and unique flavors of our limited-time Seafood Crab Cake Sliders are joined by the Craver favorite, Shrimp Nibblers," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle, in a product release. "Make a bold move and come to White Castle to try them, because before you know it, they could be gone."
White Castle’s Shrimp Nibblers consist of butterfly shrimp, and are served with a choice of four dipping sauces, including cocktail, ranch, tartar or zesty zing. Both the Seafood Crab Cake Slider and the Shrimp Nibblers will temporarily join other seafood items on White Castle’s menu including: Fish Sliders, Fish Nibblers and Clam Strips, available in some regions for a limited time only. “Wild, Natural, Sustainable” Alaska pollock is featured in the restaurant’s Fish Sliders and Fish Nibblers, the company said.
Richardson said the new offerings were geared towards its "Cravers," a term the company uses to describe its diners.
"Many of our Cravers seek a dining experience with quality, affordable and convenient seafood menu items," Richardson said. "At White Castle, every Craver is like family, and we want to provide them with a variety of delicious and fresh seafood items whenever you're craving, morning, noon or night."
