Captain D’s eyes southern US state for rapid expansion

U.S.A.-based fast casual restaurant chain Captain D’s is accelerating its franchise development in central Florida, looking to expand its presence in the state beyond its 29 established locations.

A rapid expansion in Florida fits into the company’s overall franchise goals and plans for 2016, it said, with growth in the state already proving to be a sweet spot for the restaurant chain.

“Central Florida has proven to be a successful region for Captain D's, with existing restaurants in the area consistently performing well," said Michael Arrowsmith, chief development officer for Captain D's. "There is tremendous potential to catapult our presence through franchise development."

Captain D’s will have a presence at this year’s Florida Restaurant & Lodging Show in Orlando from 27 to 29 September, where it hopes to identify qualified, interested potential franchisees.

The company is coming off of a successful second quarter in 2016, the 19th consecutive quarter indicating the chain’s system-wide growth.

Captain D’s has also facilitated the brand reimagining of more than 50 percent of its restaurant locations, which have been outfitted with a new coastal design; the remaining locations are expected to be remodeled by the end of 2016.
