Former Walmart buyer joins BAP team

The Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) market development team is adding more depth to its ranks with the addition of a decorated Walmart alumnus.

Chris Keller joins BAP as its new market development manager-retail for North America, putting his more than 20 years of retail experience to the test. Of those years working in retail, 15 were spent with Walmart where Keller performed in various capacities, ultimately acting as senior buyer before departing to work for Quirch Foods and to launch his own consulting company.

Most notably, Keller received the Sam M. Walton Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2007 for captaining Walmart’s seafood sustainability team.

It’s clear that BAP is pleased to have another sustainability champion in its midst.

“GAA is excited to add Chris to its staff,” said Peter Redmond, BAP’s VP of market development. “Chris brings a wealth of experience in several areas, including retail and supply. Chris was instrumental in driving sustainability in his retail career. It is very rare to find an individual with all three of these qualities, and we feel this will really enhance our outreach in to the North American marketplace while providing excellent care to our supporters.”

“I am incredibly excited to join GAA and look forward to this opportunity to drive sustainability in seafood on a more global scale,” added Keller.

Keller currently lives in northwestern Arkansas with his wife and two children.
