New Slapfish restaurant treats customers to lobster caviar fries

Newly international fast casual restaurant concept Slapfish has opened a new storefront in San Clemente, California, U.S.A.

The location, which celebrated its official grand opening on 7 January, joins a crop of seven other Slapfish restaurants along California’s coast, including those in Orange County, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Irvine, Newport Beach, Brea and Los Angeles (inside LAX airport). The new California-based brick–and-mortar store is the first step in Slapfish’s ambitious 2017 expansion strategy – the company also plans to open a storefront in Seoul, South Korea, establishing an international presence.

“South Koreans will soon discover Slapfish is the answer to all their crave-worthy seafood wishes. With our menu of seasonally-rotating, gourmet dishes in a fast-casual setting, guests experience the quality of fine dining with the cost and convenience of fast food," Andrew Gruel, founder and CEO of Slapfish, said last month. "Also setting us apart is the fact that we only serve the freshest fish and shellfish sourced from well-managed, responsible suppliers of sustainable seafood.”

The first 100 customers who attended the San Clemente Slapfish opening were treated to complimentary Lobster Caviar Fries and Crab-Avocado Tots, both restaurant specialties.

“Known for inventive dishes like the Clobster Grilled Cheese and Chowder Fries, Slapfish has created a niche in the marketplace, offering fresh, high-quality seafood at the cost and convenience of faster food,” explained the company.
