Swedish restaurant offers free oysters to kids

Brasserie Lipp, a restaurant in Gothenburg, Sweden, is offering oysters for free to children under the age of 12 years old.

The restaurant is calling the promotional event “The Greatest Oyster Challenge in Mankind’s History,” and is seeking to make kids appreciate the bivalve, which it touts for its ability to reduce a diner’s carbon footprint, especially if oysters are eaten in place of meatballs, a popular dish in many Swedish homes.

“We want to educate a new generation of oyster loves,” restaurant owner Jens Odén said.

As part of its campaign, the restaurant invited a group of 3- to 9-year-olds to try both raw and fried oysters, with highly comedic results. Check out the YouTube video here.
