Culimer opens Dubai processing plant

Dutch seafood supplier Culimer has opened a processing plant and cold storage facility in Dubai.

The plant will be used to expand Culimer’s sashimi grade super-frozen tuna capacity to the region’s retail and high-end foodservice market.

The facility, Royal Culimer Seafood Processing, is equipped with sustainable processing equipment and will use solar energy to heat water while a specially designed biofilter allows the company to recycle 70 percent of its processing water.

“The unique combination of the processing plant and super frozen cold store allows us to supply any kind of fresh tuna product to our retail partners and top chefs,” said Jeroen Tollenaar, Royal Culimer's managing director.
