The National Fisheries Institute’s (NFI) on Wednesday announced the addition of Supreme Crab & Seafood to its Crab Council.
A wholesale importer and distributor, Supreme Crab & Seafood has been supplying supermarkets, processors and club stores with quality grade crabmeat for more than half a decade, shipping throughout the U.S. and Caribbean.
“The integrity of our product defines our company,” said Supreme Crab & Seafood’s Arnold Cohen. “Before we source a product, I personally inspect the processing facilities to ensure quality and safety. The NFI Crab Council invests with in-country processors in the same way. The strong sustainability partnerships the Crab Council forms with on-the-ground stakeholders align with Supreme’s mission and led us to join.”
The NFI Crab Council funds fisheries improvement efforts in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
“The NFI Crab Council now has sixteen members,” said Gavin Gibbons, council secretary. “Companies, like Supreme Crab & Seafood, recognize the importance of the Crab Council’s work in protecting Southeast Asian crab stocks and want to contribute towards that success. We are pleased to welcome them.”
The NFI Crab Council was founded in 2009 and funds Blue Swimming Crab sustainability projects through contributions from participating companies and has received grants from the World Bank and the Walton Family Foundation.
