The Peruvian Ministry of Production (Produce) on Tuesday announced it set the 2013 jack mackerel quota at 80,000 metric tons (MT).
The harvest will be split into two seasons, 20 February to 19 March and 20 March to 15 April.
The industrial fishing sector was allocated 24,000 MT quota for chub mackerel. The harvests will also be split across the two seasons.
The ministry noted that the quota is in-line with scientific guidance from the Instituto del Mar del Peru (IMARPE).
