Ruth Levy leaving Stavis Seafoods

Stavis Seafoods’ Chief Business Officer Ruth Levy is leaving the company following a storied 27-year run at the Boston-based seafood importer and wholesaler.

A fishing boat captain out of college, Levy eventually moved on to work in management positions at several New England seafood processing companies before a stint at Sysco in Texas. She joined Stavis in 1988 as sales manager and over the next 25 years, Levy worked her way up the corporate chain of command, becoming vice president of marketing, chief operating officer and eventually, in 2011, chief business officer, where she headed the national sales team and developed new business channels for the company.

“It has been a wonderful career at Stavis,” Levy said. “I have achieved a lot and been able to travel the world as I visited all of our sources of production, but it is time to move on.”

Levy said she plans to take a hiatus from the seafood industry but would consider returning to it in the future.
