Thai Union appoints new human resources head, responsible for 46,000 employees

Thai Union Group has named Shue Chung Chan as head of group human resources, giving him responsibility for the company’s 46,000 employees around the world.

Chan will retain both the position of executive director at Thai Union, overseeing factory operations strategies, and acting managing director at Thai Union Graphics. Chan will report directly to Thai Union President and CEO Thiraphong Chansiri.

Chan started at Thai Union in 1996, overseeing production and operations including engineering, quality control and logistics. He has a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management from Oregon State University and an MBA from Bangkok University. He also graduated from the Directors Certification Program organized by the Thai Institute of Directors Association.

“The appointment of Mr. Chan to head of group HR reflects our focus on human resources as a core growth pillar for Thai Union,” Chansiri said. “Mr. Chan will oversee TU global HR strategies and will be responsible for over 46,000 employees in four different continents around the globe. With his long experience and expertise in the industry, I am certain that Mr. Chan will positively contribute to Thai Union’s overall business growth.”

Thai Union is one of the world’s largest seafood companies. Its brand portfolio includes Chicken of the Sea, John West, Petit Navire, Parmentier, Mareblu, King Oscar, Rügen Fisch, Sealect, Fisho and Bellotta.
