Trident to Acquire Bear & Wolf Salmon Co.

Trident Seafoods of Seattle on Monday announced that it agreed to acquire Bear & Wolf Seafood Co. and its processing facility in Cordova, Alaska.

As part of the transaction, Bear & Wolf President Peter Kuttel will stay with Trident to manage and further develop its value-added salmon operations throughout Prince William Sound. Trident also operates salmon processing plants in Bristol Bay, Sand Point, Chignik, Petersburg, Ketchikan and Cordova, Alaska.

"This will be a plus for our employees, the fishermen and the communities of Prince William Sound," Kuttel said in a press release. "Trident and I are strongly committed to adding value to Alaskaâ??s salmon resources. Bear & Wolf has been very successful producing and marketing skinless-boneless canned salmon products. Joining Trident now will provide the additional resources and market access necessary to broaden that mission."

"Alaska seafood is a premium wild product," said Chuck Bundrant, founder and chairman of Trident, one of the nationâ??s largest Alaska seafood suppliers. "I have said many times that we need to process more of Alaskaâ??s harvest into healthy, easy-to-prepare items for restaurant operators and home consumers alike. Peter Kuttel shares that goal, and along with the other Bear & Wolf employees, will enhance the production of value-added salmon throughout our company."
