15 May, 2012 - After nine years, Libby Woodhatch is leaving her role as CEO of Seafood Scotland to join Seafish as its head of advocacy, a new position, the UK organization announced on Tuesday.

In her new role, Woodhatch will act as a link between industry, government and other key stakeholders. Seafish created the role in response to the results of an industry-wide consultation last year that highlighted the need for the organization to ensure it was connected to its stakeholders on a regular basis. Woodhatch will be tasked with strengthening working relationships between the body and the industry it serves.

“We are delighted that Libby has chosen to move to a new role in Seafish,” said Seafish CEO Paul Williams. “The position reflects industry’s wishes for us to focus on working closely with them, building strong ties that will endure as we kick start our new strategy and work programs. Libby’s character and extensive experience within the industry make her an excellent addition to the team and we have every confidence Libby will play a key part in our future plans.”

Iain McSween, chair of the Seafood Scotland board, added, “We are disappointed that Libby is moving and recognize the tremendous work she has undertaken for the Scottish seafood sector. We will miss her input, as will the entire industry, but wish her well for the future within the newly structured Seafish.”

Libby will leave her current position at the end of June before taking up her new role in September.
