Fresh & Easy — Tesco’s beleaguered U.S. brand, which has struggled financially since its debut in 2007 — is rolling out a new range of 50 ready-to-cook appetizers and meals, some including seafood, for the summer grilling season. The line is branded as “Ready to Cook.”
Among the options are Atlantic Salmon Skewers with Spicy Orange Sauce and Mango Chipotle Albacore Tuna, priced at USD 5.99 and USD 6.99, respectively, for a 12-ounce portion. Ancho Chile Atlantic Salmon, Salmon Burgers and Peel N’ Eat BBQ Shrimp are also among the options. (Click here to view images of the meals on Fresh & Easy’s Facebook page.)
All options are pre-marinated or pre-seasoned and ready to go straight on the grill or skillet or in the microwave.
“As we move into summer, more people are coming together for barbecues, graduations, and picnics and everyone wants to find great deals on quality meats and veggies they can easily throw on the grill,” said Anthony Johnson, Fresh & Easy’s category manager for meat, fish and poultry. “Customers can easily and affordably put together a meal with unique flavor combinations with our new ‘Ready to Cook’ appetizers, meats and sides.”
Fresh & Easy currently operates more than 190 stores in Arizona, California and Nevada.
Early this year, Tesco temporarily closed 12 Fresh & Easy stores that were performing poorly. At the same time, the UK retailer opened 25 U.S. Fresh & Easy stores in the first quarter of 2012.
