11 July, 2012 - Verlasso, AquaChile’s brand of “harmoniously raised” salmon, has announced a partnership with Fortune Fish Co.

Verlasso salmon will now be available in retail markets in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Missouri. As part of the partnership, Verlasso will exhibit at Fortune Fish’s annual Chicago Seafood and Specialty Food Show on 18 July.

Verlasso earlier this week announced that it received independent certification from Det Norske Vertias for its sustainable aquaculture practices.

“We’re excited to offer this new option in sustainable salmon to our gourmet retailers,” said Mark Palicki, VP of marketing for Fortune Fish. “Our retailers are looking for the transparency and verified farming claims Verlasso provides, and we’re confident their customers will enjoy the salmon’s mild flavor and silky texture. Verlasso’s sustainable farming practices are revolutionary and industry-changing. We’re proud to have them as part of our portfolio.”

In addition to its new reach in the Midwest, Verlasso salmon is available at restaurants and retail outlets through regional distributors and direct-to-retail partnerships in California, Oregon, Las Vegas, New York City and the Mid-Atlantic region.

Fortune Fish, an Illinois-based seafood distributor, is also the exclusive distributor of Skuna Bay Salmon to the Chicago-area foodservice market.
