06 September, 2012 - The Terengganu government today approved a 1,090-hectare area for white shrimp farming aquaculture project in Merchang, Marang, scheduled to start before the end of this year.



Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the project, which involved about RM1.8 billion investment, is a joint-venture between Malaysia’s Ocean Aquatic Marine (M) Sdn Bhd and Zhanjiang Guolian Aquatic Products Co Ltd from China.



“When operational, the prawn farm will be able to offer job opportunities to more than 1,000 people especially local residents.”
