17 September, 2012 - The former Cromer Crab factory in North Norfolk, U.K., and its processing equipment will be up for auction later this month.

The sale comes after parent company Young’s Seafood Ltd. closed the site in August. Young’s transferred its operations to its site in Humberside. More than 200 people lost their jobs.

Bristol-based specialist food machinery auctioneers Clarke Fussells is holding the online auction. The auction commences on 1 p.m., Wednesday 26 September. Bidding can be made online up to 6 p.m. the day before the sale, which will take place at The Links Country Park Hotel and Golf Club in West Runton, Cromer Norfolk.

Clarke Fussells, which provides a comprehensive range of services to the food processing industry, describes the site as a complete, modern, fully-equipped food processing plant suitable for packing chicken products, vegetables, snack foods and seafood. It adds that the site and equipment is Marks & Spencer-approved and says the factory was “until very recently processing and packing crabs, lobsters and prawns.”

Buyers can bid for individual lots or for the plant as a whole.
