24 September, 2012 - Aramark, the second-largest catering company in Germany, has been awarded Marine Stewardship Council chain-of-custody certification. Aramark is the first catering company with nationwide operations in Germany allowed to use the MSC eco-label on its seafood dishes.

Aramark has been sourcing fish from sustainable sources since 2007 and is switching its entire fish range to MSC-certified products immediately, depending on availability.

“Sustainability, including sourcing seafood, is something we are particularly concerned about,” said Jürgen Vogl, Aramark CEO. “So I am delighted that we are able to offer diners in our restaurants a wide selection of MSC certified fish and thereby support sustainable fishing.”

“Having achieved MSC certification, Aramark has decided to start communicating its long-standing support for sustainable fishing to its restaurant customers with immediate effect,” said Katja Willeke, commercial manager at MSC Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “This makes Aramark a pioneer among nationwide catering companies in the German-speaking world. We are delighted with the partnership and congratulate Aramark on its certification.”
