17 January, 2013 - The Fiji Tuna Boat Owners Association hopes to get better prices for their albacore tuna after receiving certification from the Marine Stewardship Council.

Association secretary, Russell Dunham, in an interview with Radio Australia’s Pacific Beat program, said they are confident this will create more market opportunities for them.

“There are quite a lot of buyers now looking for certified tuna and it’s a good opportunity for us to tap into that market now,” he said.

“But a lot of it is driven by retailers and supermarket chains in Europe and more so in the U.S. recently and also Australia.”
