Top 10 SeafoodSource commentaries of 2016

This past year saw the seafood industry contend with a number of fundamental shifts in key markets.

Brexit swept the United Kingdom over the summer, and left fishers and businesses dealing out of the U.K., as well as those dealing to it, with an array of secession hurdles to overcome. Meanwhile, the United States elected its 45th president, business tycoon Donald Trump, in November 2016, leaving the fate of several seafood-related policies and trade agreements in question, mainly the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Fish farmers in Chile are still recovering from a massive toxic algae bloom that gripped the sector in March, and, in Vietnam, farmers of pangasius and shrimp had to work through an epochal drought in the Mekong Delta. As far as consumers and innovation are concerned, synthetic shrimp products got closer to supermarket shelves this year, and celebrated U.K. dining staple, fish and chips, filled even more bellies.

All of these topics, and countless others, SeafoodSource commented on this year. Click through below to find out which commentaries were the most popular among readers in 2016:
