Seafood leaders on the move – Vol. 6

Chau Minh Dat → Commercial Director for Seafood Connection ◊ Seafood Connection, an importer and exporter of Vietnamese seafood purchased by Maruha Nichiro in 2013, has named Chau Minh Dat as its new commercial director. Dat will work to address business opportunities coming from an increase in trade activities in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries – activity spurred partially by a new free-trade agreement with the European Union – for the company, which is one of the biggest exporters of frozen pangasius fillets between Vietnam and Europe.

“We are aware of the huge demand for the European market, but with our offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Fort Lauderdale, U.S.A., we have the assets in place to serve the Asian and North [and] South America market[s] as well,” explained Seafood Connection New Business Development Director Jiro Yokota. “And Maruha Nichiro is the biggest importer of shrimps from Vietnam. It means we have the network, the position, the people and the products to increase our business in Vietnam.”

Career Highlights: Served as the vice general director of Hoang Long Seafood before coming to Seafood Connection.
