Anglerfish
This dweller of the deep uses its light lure, attached above its head, to attract its favorite snacks: small fish and squids. The light is fired up by a bioluminescent bacteria present within the fish. Anglerfish have been discovered worldwide, with some classified as pelagic and others being benthic. A scientific study suggests that the species originated during the mid-Cretaceous period some 130 to 100 million years ago.
