Global seafood importer Lewis Mills & Co. has acquired a Chain of Custody certification from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), thus allowing the business to make credible claims that the farmed Atlantic salmon it sources for its customers is entirely sustainable.
Lewis Mills submitted to a rigorous audit process conducted by an independent, third-party certifier to garner the ASC distinction. The process took into account who Lewis Mills & Co. purchases from; how they track their seafood purchases; and how they identify, segregate and maintain certified inventory.
The ASC bid is not the only certification endeavor that Lewis Mills & Co. has undertaken – the seafood sourcing outfit also holds a Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody certification and is adherent to Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP).
