Steady progress is being made on the three new fresher trawlers ordered by HB Grandi from the Celiktrans yard in Turkey now that Ramadan is over.
According to the Icelandic seafood company’s contract with the Turkish yard, Engey is to be delivered later this year. Akurey (pictured) is to follow in the spring, and the last of the three, Videy, will be delivered in the autumn of 2017.
Thorarinn Sigurbjornsson, HB Grandi’s marine superintendent overseeing the construction at the Celiktrans yard, said there is currently no firm date for Engey’s delivery, but the engine and equipment trials will take place soon.
The trawlers are all 54.75 meters in length with a 13.5-meter beam.
