Fish farmer partners with Bolivia for new project

Brazilian company Ltda Pacú Aquaculture has teamed up with the Bolivian government to build a fish farming complex worth BOB 196.7 million (USD 28.5 million, EUR 25.4 million).

The complex will be located in the town of Chimoré, according to Prensa Latina. Representatives from both the company and the Bolivian government met this week in a ceremony to sign off on the deal.

Bolivian President Evo Morales said this was the first fish industry of its kind in Bolivia. The center, scheduled to open in September 2017, will encompass 75 hectares. It will raise fish as well as generate feed for land-based livestock such as chickens and pigs. The complex will also include a processing center which, when finished, is estimated to be able to produce 3,000 metric tons of finished product per year.
