Two new aquaculture qualifications, a degree and a postgraduate diploma, are being launched by Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology to start next year.
It is the first time a bachelor of aquaculture and marine conservation and a postgraduate diploma in sustainable aquaculture have been offered in New Zealand, and they are expected to attract students from around the country and the globe.
NMIT chief executive Tony Gray said the qualifications added to a successful diploma in aquaculture.
"They will help cement the top of the South's reputation as a centre for aquaculture training and research in New Zealand."
