Lobster vending machine meets Mass. resistance

New England may be known for its lobsters, but it’s taken nearly two decades for Vending Extreme’s Maine Lobster Game to arrive here in Massachusetts.

The Cape Coral, Fla.-based company has been making these machines — a live-lobster vending machine/arcade game — for 15 years. Over that time, owner Chris Keslinger has shipped most of the lobsters he uses in the machines he oversees in Florida and his seafood restaurant through Logan Airport. That’s why Keslinger finds it kind of ironic that his creation would run into trouble upon its arrival so close to Boston, a city he refers to as a major hub for the lobster industry.
