The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that it will not initiate a new fee that was expected to significantly increase the cost of re-inspecting product suspected of a food-safety violation, Benjamin England, founder and CEO of FDAImports.com, reported on Wednesday.

He said the agency is trying to resolve “issues” with the program. FDAImports.com was among the companies and organizations that fought the implementation of the new fee.

The fee technically went into effect on 1 October. The fee was authorized under the Food Safety Modernization Act, which was signed into law by President Obama in January.
