Because of interoperability standards, Email senders don’t need to ask a recipient what system they use. Why should seafood traceability be any different? With growing consumer demand for authentication and transparency in the seafood supply chain, it’s time to take action to remove the obstacles that get in the way of effective traceability. This panel will discuss how standards-based interoperability between seafood trading partner systems can create unprecedented efficiency and visibility starting immediately from the catch to purchase – and why it took so long for the industry to get here.
Leading technology providers (Peter Larkins, Trace Register; Jesse Latham, Vericatch; Eric Enno Tamm, This Fish) will explain key lessons and results from a first-of-its-kind pilot connecting their seafood traceability platforms using The Global Dialogue’s Seafood Traceability Interoperability Guidance and Key Data Elements along with GS1 Standards including EPCIS (Electronic Product Code Information Services) for event visibility. The panel will be moderated by GS1 US, the standards organization advocating for more efficient data sharing in the supply chain, in collaboration with the Institute of Food Technologists Global Food Traceability Center (IFT-GFTC) an organization advancing the science of food to ensure a safe and abundant food supply and co-convener of the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability.
