Description:

Small-scale fisheries produce nearly half of the world’s wild-caught seafood, yet much of this supply remains excluded from higher-value markets due to gaps in traceability, infrastructure, financing, and market access.

As seafood buyers and regulators place increasing emphasis on transparency and verification, new opportunities are emerging to strengthen small-scale fisheries while improving supply chain resilience and responsible sourcing.

This webinar brings together leaders from the Small-Scale Fisheries Tech and Markets Intermediary Collective to share practical examples from fisheries across Latin America and Africa. Speakers will discuss how investments in traceability systems, cold chain infrastructure, digital data collection, and market-facing transparency tools are helping small-scale fisheries become more market-ready.

The session will explore:

  • The business case for investing in small-scale fisheries and emerging financing models that can unlock greater environmental, social, and economic value
  • How traceability and digital systems are being implemented in practice with lessons from implementing these systems in Latin America and Africa
