Nutriad's new hire makes case for aquaculture specialists

Nutriad, a manufacturer of European feed additives, has decided to further hone and enrich its team of aquaculture specialists in Southeast Asia by appointing Ho Gim Chong as Commercial/Technical Manager of Aquaculture for the region.

The appointment speaks to Nutriad’s overall strategy of broadening its reach in key aquaculture markets around the world.

“Regional aquaculture specialists are an integral part of our strategy to expand our footprint in the key aquaculture markets globally and particularly in SE Asia”, said Peter Coutteau, Business Unit Manager Aquaculture for Nutriad. “Aquaculture is expanding extremely fast and maturing from a young, pioneering activity into a more professional, consolidated industry. On that path, aquaculture producers are facing big challenges in terms of feed cost efficiency and disease prevention.”

Gim Chong comes to his new position with a degree in Biology – specializing in Molecular Biology and Genetics – from the University of Putra, Malaysia, as well as a Master’s degree in Parasitology, Molecular Biology and Zoonotic Epidemiology. Previous to joining Nutriad, Gim Jong served as a lecturer and researcher in Veterinary Parasitology at the University of Putra Malaysia, and as a consultant with experience in aquaculture farms in SE Asia.

“Having worked the past years on the introduction of aqua additive solutions to improve productivity in aquaculture farms, I see a great potential in the specialty programs offered by Nutriad to improve feed cost-efficiency and prevent disease using natural products. My position with Nutriad will allow me to apply my knowledge and experience towards solutions that help farmers and feed millers deal with day to day performance and health challenges in aquaculture,” remarked Gim Jong.

“The experience in supporting aquaculture farms as well as the veterinary expertise of Gim Chong will further enrich our aqua team in Asia Pacific where health issues have become top priority for almost all aquaculture species”, added Allen Wu, Nutriad’s Regional Manager Aquaculture for Asia Pacific.
