Alaska fishing group seeks executive director

United Fishermen of Alaska is seeking a new executive director – a position that pays up to USD 100,000 (EUR 85,023) annually.

UFI is a commercial fishing trade association, representing 34 Alaska commercial fishing organizations throughout the state and its offshore federal waters.

“UFA’s mission is to promote and protect the common interest of Alaska’s commercial fishing industry, as a vital component of Alaska’s social and economic well-being,” according to a statement from the group.

The group’s executive director position has been vacant since January 2016. Executive administrator Mark Vinsel, president Jerry McCune and the organization’s vice president have all been helping with executive director duties, Vinsel told SeafoodSource.

The starting salary for UFA’s executive director is up to USD 100,000, based on qualifications. The deadline to apply is 22 September.

The executive director serves as the primary representative of UFA and manages the day-to-day operations of the organization.

“While prior experience and knowledge of Alaska fisheries is beneficial, candidates with demonstrated abilities . . . in non-fisheries related fields will be strongly considered," the group said.
