Orca Bay's John Steinmetz exits to join Walmart

The exodus of executives from Orca Bay Seafoods continued, with John Steinmetz leaving the supplier to join Walmart as senior buyer of fresh seafood.

Steinmetz, who served as vice president of business development at Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based Orca Bay for nearly 10 years, began working for Walmart in January.

Before Steinmetz joined Orca Bay, he was senior manager of seafood for Sysco Corporation for 10 years.

Also at Orca Bay, Co-Founder and Senior Vice President Trish Haaker is retiring at the end of this month, as is her husband, Grant Haaker, Orca Bay’s 20-year veteran creative director, SeafoodSource reported last week.

Last year, Mike Walsh, who was chief operating officer and executive vice president of Orca Bay, left the company to join Grobest Seafood Co. And former Orca Bay Chief Financial Officer Dave McGee left the company to become consulting chief financial officer of CFO Selections in Seattle.
